Clash Magazine hosts its first Issue Launch Party in Manchester!

With the help of Manchester promoters Northern Noise, the party is coming to one of Manchester’s most respected and loved venues - The Deaf Institute - and will showcase some the country’s most exciting acts.

It’s Clash with a Manc accent.

As this is the first time we’ve had a launch party in Manchester, we thought we’d celebrate by having an all Manc line-up.

Launching his new album ‘Jimmy’s Show’ and headlining our inaugural gathering will be the tongue-in-cheek psychedelic-pop wizard, Jim Noir. Did we just call him a wizard? Yes we did. It’ll be a magical show from the man dubbed ‘Manchester’s Ziggy Stardust’.

Noir became known to the masses via the omnipresent tearaway single ‘My Patch’ from debut album ‘Tower Of Love’. ‘Jimmy’s Show’ is the culmination of a 16-month project in which he’s released an EP each month to fans online via his Noir Club. He’s then reworked the best of this extensive output into an LP of all-new songs, due for release on 17th September. A collection of psychedelic pop with wonderful lyrics, his music has both the humour and darkness of a true Northern soul.

Support comes from the city’s much loved electro-pop outfit, Silverclub. Their eponymous debut album received a plethora of praise upon release a few months ago. We gave the record a great review in issue 75 and live their songs become even bigger, with each layer bouncing off the walls in an incredible visual show – a true electronic band, not hiding behind programmed elements.

Taking to the stage for us first will be City Reign. They’ve been gaining praise with a string of well received singles and an EP. Their forward-thinking indie has already caught the ears of Steve Lamacq and they’re about to unleash a debut album later in the year. The group cite R.E.M and The National as favourites, they’ll soon become your favourites too. Get down early to catch all three bands, and a free copy of the new issue, all for just £6.
