Kathryn Rudge will be appearing as Noah Stewart's special guest on his UK tour in May. Recently described by The Times as ‘A feisty Liverpool lass with an accent to match, Kathryn Rudge has shot up the ladder. A year ago she was still at the Royal Northern College of Music. Now she has roles at English National Opera, Opera North and on the Glyndebourne Tour’.
Born in 1986 in Liverpool, in 2004 Kathryn Rudge took up a scholarship to study at the Royal Northern College of Music with Susan Roper, graduating with 1st class honours and distinction and completing her studies on the International Artist Diploma Scheme.
On graduating last summer Kathryn immediately joined English National Opera as part of the Young Singers programme, making her debut in the role of Cherubino in a new production of The Marriage of Figaro directed by Fiona Shaw. She went on to take the role of Sesto in Handel’s Giuilo Cesare with Opera North to critical acclaim.
This autumn Kathryn returns to the role of Cherubino (Marriage of Figaro) with Glyndebourne Touring Opera and in 2013 takes the role of Annio (La Clemenza di Tito) with Opera North. Her concert work includes recitals at Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Brighton and City of London Festivals, and a performance of Carmen on 1 July as part of Charles Hazlewood’s 2012 Orchestra In a Field music festival at Glastonbury Abbey.
On the concert platform Kathryn has appeared as soloist with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra and Manchester Camerata working with conductors Vasily Petrenko, Carl Davis, John Wilson and Paul Daniel, at major venues including the Royal Festival Hall. She was selected for representation by Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) in 2011.
