The Glade Festival roared into existence in 2004.
It was started by 4 chaps who, between them, had run and been involved in electronic music festivals the world over, especially in Southern Africa, and in the wonderful Glade Stage, the best place to catch the finest breaks and techno at Glastonbury Festival.
The idea was and still is to create an outdoor space where proper electronic music could be heard, danced to and totally loved in a colourful environment where you could let go, express yourself and be free of sponsors and music made by people who don’t get it…
2011 saw the debut of Houghton Hall as our new home. Hidden amongst towering trees in North Norfolk, Houghton provides wide open fields and enchanted woods within which Glade can unfold. Its your very own electric eden.
The Glade experience is one of beautiful countryside and beautiful beats, where you can party until dawn without disturbance and without a care. Houghton Hall is one of the few place in England where such en experience can be had.
After a few years searching for the perfect home, we think we’ve found it. See you in the fields and woods, this year, next year and many years to come! The principle of the party are the same now as they were when we started the festival all those years ago… We don’t have, or want, banner sponsorship sharing the experience with us. We are not commercial, and nor will we ever be.
We want everyone to be able to enjoy Glade with us – the family that we have created by joining so many tribes together is the life blood of Glade. It’s the beautiful, weird and wonderful people that make this experience what it is. We are all about the underground. We will go to the ends of the earth to find the finest, freshest electronic music in the world, and bring it all into one place.
