As comebacks go, the return of milburn has been a pretty bloody successful one. What began as a handful of one off shows early last year culminated in a self-curated festival on Sheffield's famous Don Valley Bowl in front of 8,000 adoring fans in June 2017. To put the whole thing in perspective, in just over a year the band have sold a little under 20,000 tickets in their hometown (no that's not a typo) and a further 10,000 around the rest of the UK. Add to that a raucous European tour and a number of high profile festival slots, then you begin to understand just what this band still means to people.
This is not just another 'pay the mortgage off' style calculated comeback either. To cement their place as one of the UK's best guitar bands, the lads now return with an accomplished third studio album which was produced by the highly rated Bill Ryder-Jones at Parr Street studios in Liverpool (set for release on 15/09/17). With support from Steve Lamacq and Shaun Keaveney at BBC 6 music, it's clear that milburn are still making music that is as relevant as ever.
