Twelfth Night, the last of the Twelve Days of Christmas
But I The Lord of Misrule have some unfinished business.
All signs of the festivities must be put away for another year.
But what is life without a bit of merriment and cheer?
Till the last chime of midnight I am The Lord of Misrule
That which is promised hereby makes me no fool.
Viola alone was rescued from the sea;
Bereft of her twin, how lonely she must be.
I am The Lord of Misrule, and this is no time for a tragedy,
Arriving in Illyria her only course must be,
That she must become a he.
Duke Orsino rules in this distant land,
But to the Lady Olivia he's rather bland.
I am The Lord of Misrule fear not it is no time to grieve,
For I have something up my sleeve.
I want to make these love birds three
For what is love without a little difficulty?
Enter Cesario, who was Viola last scene
And my does Olivia think he's a dream.
But Cesario's heart runs along a different theme,
For you see it be her Duke-ly master,
That makes her woman's heart beat faster.
I am the king of topsy-turvy's - me
Let's see how funny this night can be!
Let's bring in some drunken folk
With some naughty letters that they wrote,
Add a healthy dose of yellow stockings
Let's hope he can keep his knees from knocking.
I am The Lord of Misrule and there is something I must do,
Now from the sea a lost brother it doth spew
Who arrives in time to be confused.
A pair of twins returned at last
It must surely be some sort of farce!
Let's hope our lungs can fill to capacity
So... are you sitting comfortably?
